Files – Azure’s managed file storage.
Azure Files offers fully managed file shares in the cloud accessible via SMB and REST protocols. It supports both Windows and Linux systems, enables hybrid scenarios through Azure File Sync, and provides AD-based authentication. The service features snapshot capabilities, supports premium performance tiers, and enables soft delete for data protection. Azure Files includes encryption at rest and in transit, supports large file shares up to 100 TiB, and enables shared access across multiple compute instances.
